I grew up reading books by a Danish author named Dennis Jürgensen. This particular one is about a boy called Freddy, who goes one these crazy adventures with what appears to be wax-figures of famous movie monsters. Mr Jürgensen's twist was to make the werewolf a suit-wearing discophiliac with a nack of stealing radios, and Dracula a cranky, old geezer who's ulcer prevents him from drinking blood: Which he's substituted with raspberry-soda's.

On this picture, they're visiting the Great Wall of China in the book The Secret of the Burping Dragons. The green thing with it's eye in the camera is their dragon Nitan and yes, it burps constantly.
